So I may not be Bill Nye the Science Guy, but it doesn’t take a scientist to figure out what Square Enix is trying to do to Beastmaster. But before I get ahead on that, I’ll let you know that I’ve happily charmed scorpions my entire god damn life leveling beastmaster, and I was damn well enjoying it until an expansion called Aht Urghan came along.
Basically here’s the story – I was going to Halvung to take a look around like I would do in any newly released zone as Beastmaster. I would normally go Beastmaster because it’s generally the safest route for exploring new areas but today seems it was not the case. I get into Halvung, and run all the way through zoning into Mount Zhayolm which I also run all the way through to only zone back into Halvung; but a harder part of the zone.
Like normal, I sneak up, and head out. This is where things got nasty. Part way into the zone I see an Impossible to Gauge Troll which I assumed would be true sight, so I decide to call a pet and see if it was true sight because at this point I could run back to zone if it was. Turns out these mobs were not true sight but the Trolls which checked Very Tough were! So after running past the Impossible to Gauge ones towards the Very Tough ones I get aggro by one of these things. I thought it would be smart to charm a near by Scorpion which conned Tough. This was a very bad idea. These Scorpions were infact “Uncharmable”.
So basically I ended up dying on my Beastmaster and deleveled to 74 because Square Enix thought it would be funny to make these scorpions uncharmable. I think I can quote somewhere that they would not change the playability of Beastmaster solo, but this is clearly not the case. Looking back on this is moderately funny, but at the time it was not.
I kinda hope Square Enix lightens up on the nerf stick for Beastmaster and lets them solo a little longer. Until then, I’m going to have to get out my Razor-Gator and start cutting some bitches.
